The Curve of the Road
It was pretty much all they wanted.
Large cars and such, a house tucked
away in the woods behind a stonewall
languorously following the curve of the road.The curve of the road is dangerous.
It pulls far harder than it pushes. Squirrels
don't fare well. The curve of the road
does what it can to cause mayhem.Was it there before the homestead?
Does the curve of the road exist before the road
was built? And who "builds" a road, anyway?
In Boston they said it was the cattle, butwives' tales are abundant and
you figure they'd follow something other
than a fucking cow when it comes
to the curve of the road.They didn't need much else, a few
hundred years later, that they didn't have then;
a Lexus, an irrigation system, and the same leaves
that fell in the fall by the curve of the road.3-20-11
